形態特徵

• Culms to 7.5 m tall and 3 cm in diam., glabrous, green in first year, gradually becoming brownish to black-spotted in second year, and then changing to completely brownish black in third year, flattened or grooved on one side on upper culm; internodes 4-30 cm long; wall thin; branches 2 at each node, sometimes single.
• Sheath of culm deciduous, papyraceous, glabrous, greenish buff to pale buff or to ruddy buff, fimbriate along margins; auricles of sheath lanceolate, act at apex. Leaves 2-3, sometimes to 13 when young, ovate-lanceolate, 6-12 cm long, 1-1.5 cm broad, acute, base obtuse, veins 4-5, veinlets 7-9, tessellate, densely spinulose-scabrous along one margin, sparsely so along other, petioles 3-5 mm long; auricles of leaf small with brown bristles at apex; ligule of leaf very short; sheath of leaf glabrous outside.
• Spikelets 2-5 at nodes of leafy branch, 1.8-2.5 cm long, 1-4-flowered; outer bract subcoriaceous, ovate-lanceolate, 18 mm long; with a blade at apex; glume 1, densely hairy on keel, and along margins; lemmas lanceolate, 19 mm long, acute, veins 9, densely hairy on both surfaces and along margins; paleas narrowly lanceolate, 10 mm long, bilobed at apex, veins 2 between keels and 2 between each keel and edge, vascular strand absent; style short, ca. 3 mm long, ending in 3 feathery stigmas; stamens 3, filaments long, anthers 7 mm long; lodicules 3, 3.5 mm long, hairy outside.

分布

• 台灣 : Probably introduced. Planted in Yushako, Rosuiko, Nantou since early times; often planted as an ornamental.
